Gavin Thomas - Founder and Managing Director

Gavin Thomas is a Chartered Manager and a seasoned professional in the rail industry, boasting over 25 years of experience across both regional and intercity operations. He has held senior leadership positions for nearly a decade, playing a pivotal role in enhancing safety, compliance, and operational excellence within various UK Train Operating Companies.

Gavin started his career as an apprentice and advanced to Head of Department, establishing a reputation for his hands-on leadership, technical expertise, and pragmatic problem-solving approach. His career foundation is built on a strong operational background, with a commitment to continuous improvement in safety-critical environments.

In addition to his rail career, Gavin dedicated over 10 years to the Army Reserve as a Lance Corporal with the 165 Port and Maritime Regiment, Royal Logistic Corps, including deployments to Kuwait. This military experience further honed his leadership abilities, resilience, and teamwork skills under demanding conditions.

Outside of his professional life, Gavin has a deep passion for sport and the outdoors. He is a long-time supporter of Swansea City and Welsh rugby, enjoys following his local football club Alvechurch, and can often be found walking his dogs, spending quality time with family, or engaging in clay pigeon and rifle shooting.

Toni Thomas - Director of Operations

Toni is an accomplished professional with extensive experience across multiple industries, including aerospace, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), and medical devices. Specialising in project management, production planning, operational delivery, and continuous improvement, she has developed a strong reputation for delivering complex projects, improving operational performance, and supporting teams in achieving safe, efficient, and sustainable outcomes.

With a wealth of experience working in demanding, highly regulated environments, Toni brings a practical and solutions-focused approach to operational management. Her expertise spans resource planning, project delivery, process improvement, and stakeholder engagement, with a particular focus on ensuring that operational activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

As a qualified ISO 45001 Lead Auditor, Toni has a strong understanding of occupational health and safety management systems, risk management, and regulatory compliance. She combines this knowledge with her operational experience to promote a positive safety culture, strengthen business processes, and drive continuous improvement.

As Director of Operations at Rail Fleet Services, Toni plays a key role in overseeing operational delivery, supporting business development, and ensuring that the company consistently meets the needs and expectations of its clients. Her cross-industry experience brings a fresh perspective to the rail sector, enabling her to apply proven practices and innovative approaches from other industries. Her collaborative leadership style, attention to detail, and commitment to delivering results make her an integral part of the Rail Fleet Services leadership team.

Outside of her professional life, Toni enjoys maintaining an active lifestyle and regularly attends the gym. She also has a passion for music and enjoys spending her free time walking her dogs, relaxing, and making the most of life outside work.
